Exhibitor Description:
Glass beads are Eriko's biggest source of inspiration and challenge. She loves the luminosity and translucent qualities of glass. Eriko's polymer clay beads are individual works of art. Developing a style similar to appliqué, she layers colors and visual textures to make wearable art. She refers to her technique of layering polymer clay flowers and leaves as "millefiori clay." The style is inspired by the Italian ornamental glass craft of bundling rods of cane glass and fusing them together, resulting in a mosaic flower design. The same technique and theory is used with the polymer medium, but is more clay-like and opaque.

Exhibitor Description:
I design clasps, connectors, cones, earrings, rings, cuffs and bangles - all matter of jewelry things. I work in bronze, silver and gold when requested. My clients are designers and those who create for pleasure. The designs I create are meant for those that desire the unique. Each piece has come from my life, my clients, the study of art, history and architecture and waking up at 3 am. Mostly it comes from the words "what if?" I love texture, sensuous shapes and ease of wearing. In my 50s I started creating jewelry and with the desire to create more and to become professional at it all thoughts of retirement went out the door. I went back to school and started my life over. In 2004 and 2005 I complete diplomas at GIA in design and gemology as well as completing the Jewelry Technician program at Revere. From these wonderful schools I learned the traditional and new techniques of creating jewelry. I added a wonderful tool to my box when I started designing using Computer Aided Design. I continued creating clasps and components to use in my jewelry. Friends asked if I would sell these components to them so I did. I had the opportunity to acquire HandFast in 2008 which added wonderful things to my collection. I work with my casting house to create limited production hand finished pieces for my customers, I create finished jewelry myself and I use the components I have designed in these pieces. With my process I take my sketches and recreate them on my computer using 3D CAD. I may incorporate images from photography and textures from nature. The files I create are then made into waxes. The wax master is used to create a mold so that my idea can be replicated using lost wax casting - one of the oldest ways to make jewelry. What you are buying when you buy from me are one of a kind or limited production pieces that are proudly made in the USA.
